In Surrey, the second largest city in British Columbia, a new, modern town hall was built in 2014. This project, designed by Moriyama & Teshima Architects, received the American sustainability certificate LEED Gold.

The green facade at the entrance of the building is a physical representation of the care for the environment and sustainable responsibility that het municipality of Surrey pursues. The combination of ferns and grasses in the plant scheme gives the green facade a special appearance.
