Proven sustainable
Green for more than ten years, with minimal intervention and long-lasting quality.
Back in 2010, Roma Netherlands chose a green façade as part of the renovation of its office building in Raamsdonksveer. The 51 m² SemperGreenwall gives the entrance a welcoming look and shows that sustainable business practices can be visible and lasting, even on industrial estates.

In Raamsdonksveer, Roma Netherlands showed early on that sustainability is more than a promise on paper. During the renovation of its office building in 2010, the company opted for a 51 m² green façade, making Roma one of the pioneers of living walls in the Netherlands. The SemperGreenwall gives the entrance a warm, inviting appearance and creates a striking contrast with the often grey surroundings of industrial areas.
At the same time, the greenery contributes to a more pleasant working environment: the plants block direct sunlight, reducing heat build-up on the façade and keeping the building cooler in summer. Greenery that not only looks good, but delivers tangible benefits.
The green façade in Raamsdonksveer demonstrates that façade greening is not a temporary intervention, but a long-term investment. Thanks to strong root development, automatic irrigation and periodic maintenance, the SemperGreenwall remains healthy and vibrant after all these years. The wall stays green throughout the seasons and continues to enhance the building’s appearance. It is living proof that green façades can be reliable and low-maintenance in the long run.
Roma’s green façade is therefore not just a calling card, but an investment in wellbeing
The planting design of the green façade has been carefully composed and tailored to the building’s sun orientation. Species that thrive in full sun and heat are combined with plants that prefer partial shade. This keeps the façade balanced throughout the year. As the seasons change, the colour palette subtly evolves: fresh and full in spring, rich and layered in summer, calmer in winter. The result is a living façade that remains natural and expressive all year round.
Business parks account for a significant share of the built environment in the Netherlands, so every greening measure makes a difference. Green façades and roofs support biodiversity, water retention and the reduction of heat stress. They also contribute points within certifications such as BREEAM and LEED. Roma Netherlands demonstrated early on what a future-oriented business park can look like, a choice that remains relevant today and is perhaps more important than ever.
