WHERE CITIES TURN GREEN

Even in the busiest places there is room for nature to return. Medians, roundabouts and verges can grow into green oases that cool the city, absorb rainwater and invite life back in. Green infrastructure transforms hard surfaces into spaces that work for both people and nature. It softens the streetscape, reduces noise and makes the city feel more alive. Every bit of green helps, connecting places and people. Together they create a city that breathes, moves and grows in balance with nature.

ROADS THAT GIVE BACK NATURE

A roadside can be more than a strip of asphalt and grass. With the right vegetation, it becomes part of the city’s green lungs. Plants capture dust, absorb rainwater and keep the surroundings noticeably cooler on hot days. With Sempergreen’s pre-grown vegetation blankets, municipalities and contractors can easily green both flat and sloped terrains, even under challenging conditions. The result? Cleaner air, quieter streets and a healthier environment for everyone on the move.

Smart ground cover systems for urban landscapes

Our ground cover solutions transform tram tracks, roadsides and public spaces into living green areas. They reduce heat, absorb rainwater and bring nature back into the city, making urban spaces healthier and more vibrant.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ROADSIDE GREENING

Discover answers to the most common questions here. Is your question not listed? Our experts are happy to help you personally.

Can green ground cover be installed year-round?

Yes. Sempergreen Sedummix blankets can generally be laid throughout the year, making them suitable for flexible seasonal planning.

How is green ground cover delivered?

The plant mats, available in 60 × 200 cm, are delivered on pallets. You may collect from a nearby location or arrange delivery through Sempergreen. It’s recommended to install the mats promptly and protect them from intense sunlight while on the pallet.

What is a suitable base or soil for green ground cover?

For flat or gently sloping ground (0–10°), dense soils like clay require an additional drainage layer beneath the Sedum-mix blankets. Well-drained soils such as sand may only need permeable substrate topped with the blankets.

What maintenance is required for green ground cover?

Maintenance typically involves periodic checks, but the pre-grown blankets demand minimal upkeep. Over time, routine care may include occasional trimming, fertilising, or inspection for weeds.

Where is green ground cover intended for use?

It is ideal for civil projects, architectural landscaping, embankments, parks, and other sloping or challenging surfaces. The system adapts to different gradients and infrastructures seamlessly.
