Since 1996, we’ve been on a mission to replant the planet, transforming cities with living roofs, walls and landscapes that bring nature back to cities.
It all started with a Sedum plant
Sempergreen began with one bold idea and a young grower full of ambition. At just 18, founder Corné van Garderen dreamed of turning rooftops green with Sedum. Growing ran through his veins, as he spent his childhood on his father’s nursery, where his first experiments took shape in a small corner of the greenhouse. It didn’t stay small for long. Those early days were all about curiosity, creativity and a bit of chaos. The world was waking up to green innovation, and Corné was ready to grow with it. The first projects took root, and Sempergreen started to bloom.

Not long after green roofs came to life, the market started asking for vertical greenery too. Of course, because at Sempergreen, impossible simply does not exist. That spark led to the birth of the SemperGreenwall. Demand soon grew far beyond Europe. In 2007, Sempergreen USA was founded, marking the first step across the ocean. Expansion into the Middle East followed, with Central and South America, Australia and New Zealand joining soon after.
On a mission to bring back harmony between people and plants, we reclaim every roof, wall and surface as a living testament to the power of green. From our nurseries to cities around the world, we keep growing a better future — re-planting, re-growing, inch by inch, meter by meter, mile for mile.

Since 2013, Sempergreen’s headquarters on Defensieweg in Odijk has been a true reflection of who we are. Naturally, a green roof and living wall take centre stage as its eye-catching features.
We are growers at heart and soul. With nurseries on five continents, Sempergreen ensures a steady supply of high quality plants across the world, supporting every green roof and landscape with dedication to growth, innovation and global sustainability.
SemperGreenwalls are grown in our own greenhouses and installed worldwide. We constantly refine our circular systems to meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability and safety. Each plant mix is tested for local conditions, and our products proudly carry Cradle to Cradle certification.
